Background Information
Chip
Beck is a member of the American Society
of Portrait Artists (ASOPA). He began his
fascination with faces and portrait art
during his travels overseas and years spent
living among exotic cultures and interesting
people the world over. He has sketched Hmong
and Bru tribes in Indochina, Afghan warriors,
the Ovimbundu in Angola, desert nomads,
Druze, Cuna Indians, Cuban workers, and
American politicians. From Jonas Savimbi
in Angola, hostages in Lebanon, to his son
Alex as a Webelos Scout, Beck has captured
the faces of people he came to know under
ordinary and extraordinary circumstances.
Those
clients who wish to commission portraits,
or purchase remaining originals from the
combat art series, should contact
the artist. Prices for new portraits
vary according to medium, detail, size,
and desired backgrounds or surrounding.
